Tlingit Talisman With Crystalline Fossil Walrus Ivory and African Blackwood
Product Description
"Expectation...quickens desire, while possession deadens it."The Tlingits have been in southeastern Alaska for over 10,000 years. They are a people who live in the thin strip between the mountains and the sea, and take their living from the sea.
To show their wealth, Tlingit nobles would host a Potlatch - a great gathering of hundreds of people from all over the area. These people would all be fed and entertained. These nobles would also wear medallions similar to our Tlingit Talisman in an effort to show their wealth.
Our Tlingit Talisman is made with 1000 year old Light Crystalline (translucent) Fossil Walrus Ivory set between two pieces of African Blackwood taken from sustainable forests. 1 inch high, 1 1/8 inch wide. A handsome piece you will love to wear!
Complete with Sterling Silver chain.
Fossil Ivory Color Charts
Below are the available colors of our fossil ivories. Our high quality fossilized ivories have been reclaimed from the ground after sharing the earth for up to 30 millennia! Even after all this time, Fossil Ivory remains warm and sensuous organic ivory; it is not petrified. It has developed its beautiful colors by taking up minerals from the earth and these colors are impossible to match in any contemporary ivories by modern processes.
