Simple Fossil Ivory Athapascan Morning Rays Talismans Out of Stock
Product Description
"The moment when first you wake up in the morning is the most wonderful of the twenty four hours. No matter how weary or dreary you may feel, you possess that certainty that...absolutely anything may happen. And the fact that it practically always doesn't, matters not one jot. The possibility is always there."The many different Northern Athapascan peoples have lived in the forests within the drainage areas of the Yukon and Mackenzie Rivers for many centuries. The snowfalls are heavier, the winters longer and the summers shorter than along the Arctic coast. In these cold, coniferous regions, mornings' rays break from the darkness in an explosion of muted rays that seem to come out of the very ground at the far south-eastern horizon.
We designed our Athapascan Morning Rays Talisman I (above)after finding a series of similar Talismans in the Fort Yukon region. They all dated from about 800 years ago.
The muted tan, cream and rust colors in the Fossil Walrus Ivory we used for this piece are close to the colors of the morning suns' rays in this region. Enhanced by a strip of leather as a neckpiece, this small Talisman is 7/8 inch high, 5/8 inch wide.
Wearing this one-of-a-kind Talisman will make you aware of all the possibilities opened up by each new morning!
See below for our Athapascan Morning Rays Talisman II.
Fossil Ivory Color Charts
Below are the available colors of our fossil ivories. Our high quality fossilized ivories have been reclaimed from the ground after sharing the earth for up to 30 millennia! Even after all this time, Fossil Ivory remains warm and sensuous organic ivory; it is not petrified. It has developed its beautiful colors by taking up minerals from the earth and these colors are impossible to match in any contemporary ivories by modern processes.
