Product Description

"The hardest thing to believe when you're young is that people will fight to stay in a rut, but not to get out of it."
Forged and layered Damascus Steel is known from Japan to Syria as the best steel for knife and sword blades. Layers of hard and softer high carbon steel are forged together by Bear MGC, now one of America's most collectible knife makers (now Bear and Son Cutlery), to produce the steel for this wonderful Mini Executive single-blade lockback folder. Beautiful and distinctively-Damascus patterns on the blade are produced by acid etching after forging. Damascus blades got their name because the patterns on the steel resembled the patterns in the damask cloth also being made in Damascus. (When you look at a Damascus blade under a microscope, you see tiny saw-tooth carbides, which allow the blade to cut - even when it feels dull to the touch!)

The overall length of this distinctive folder is 2 1/2 inches (closed). It has a very handy-size single drop-point blade that is 1 5/8 inches long. Nickel silver bolsters and brass liner make this knife a superb pocket-companion. Shown with Oosik Ivory etched with a full-rigged ship. This treasure will become one of your favorite possessions!

Choose a scrimshaw etching as shown below, or add a hand scrimshawed picture of your own boat for a small extra charge. Of course, it comes with free scrimshaw personalisation - up to 7 letters.

Fossil Ivory Color Charts

Below are the available colors of our fossil ivories. Our high quality fossilized ivories have been reclaimed from the ground after sharing the earth for up to 30 millennia! Even after all this time, Fossil Ivory remains warm and sensuous organic ivory; it is not petrified. It has developed its beautiful colors by taking up minerals from the earth and these colors are impossible to match in any contemporary ivories by modern processes.
