With Soft Zippered Storage Case
$265.00

"It's not that I belong to the past, but that the past belongs to me." Mary Antin.

After 150 years, we have brought back the historic Green River Knife that made a place for itself in both the American west and in nautical tradition. The scored back side of the knife, although originally used to scale fish and scrape hides, became indespensible for sailors, who felt for the scoring when up in the shrouds on a dark night, in order to know which side of the blade was sharp. Ship captains allowed this knife on board only after the sharp tip was intentionally broken off, so that no damage could be done to the sails or other sailors. We have only a few left. The blade may or may not be etched with "Russell, Green River Knife Works," depending on how much work we had to do to refurbish the knife, so there may be a little scratch here or there. We have put on Light Fossil Mammoth Ivory scales, and big brass pins. The design is authentic...scales are riveted, and not glued! Your choice of scrimshaw etching from our patterns below, as well as your name or initials - all at no charge! This old knife is every knife collector's dream! Blade is 5 inches long. 9 inches overall.

Great for reinactments and mountain man meetings! Comes complete with soft zippered storage case.

As an additional option, we will scrimshaw an etching of a different ship of your choice, or your own boat (sail or power)on one side - Just email or snailmail us a picture.

Below are the available colors of our fossil ivories. Our high quality fossilized ivories have been reclaimed from the ground after sharing the earth for up to 30 millennia! Even after all this time, Fossil Ivory remains warm and sensuous organic ivory; it is not petrified. It has developed its beautiful colors by taking up minerals from the earth and these colors are impossible to match in any contemporary ivories by modern processes.
