Product Description

With Soft Zippered Case

"All at last return to the sea - to Oceanus, the ocean river, like the ever-flowing stream of time, the beginning and the end." Rachel Carson

Rare, Rare, Rare! Here is a custom Sailor's boarding Knife with a scrimshawed whole Sperm Whale tooth handle - just like the 19th century ones you've seen in museums. This is not a replica -The tooth is Department of Commerce registered as number 21-105. The tooth and knife were etched and made by our scrimshander M.M. Cohen - Both are signed. The tooth shown is sold - We can make you another with any ship! This tooth is scrimshawed on the front side with an exquisitely detailed etching of the famous steamer Portland. The Portland was built in 1890 and served as a ferry between Boston and Portland until 1898, when she went down in the infamous November blizzard of 1898, with the loss of over 400 lives. The back of the tooth shown is etched with the name "Portland" and the dates 1890 and 1898. (Click on pictures for larger image.) Knife blade length is 5 5/8 inches. (Even has thumb grooves!) Tooth length along the outer curve is 4 3/4 inches. Overall length is 10 inches. Double guard - brass and stainless - with red-black-red liner between. A right handed whales tooth makes this knife fit perfectly in your right hand - making it a knife that will not tire your hand. High carbon stainless steel cryogenically tempered. We can make you a perfect one-of-a-kind addition to any collector's treasures. Available only in Maryland.

Below are the available colors of our fossil ivories. Our high quality fossilized ivories have been reclaimed from the ground after sharing the earth for up to 30 millennia! Even after all this time, Fossil Ivory remains warm and sensuous organic ivory; it is not petrified. It has developed its beautiful colors by taking up minerals from the earth and these colors are impossible to match in any contemporary ivories by modern processes.
