Product Description

5 inch Closed with 4 Inch Upswept Blade - With Vertical Leather Belt Sheath or Zippered Collector's Pouch

"When a workman knows the use of his tools, he can make a door, as well as a window."
Forged and layered Damascus Steel is known the world over as the best steel for knife and sword blades. Layers of hard and softer high carbon steel are forged together by Bear MGC, now one of Americas's most collectible knifemakers, (now Bear and Son Cutlery) to produce the Damascus steel for this single-blade lockback folder. Beautiful and distinctively-Damascus patterns on the blade are produced by acid etching after forging. Damascus blades got their name because the patterns on the steel resembled the patterns in the damask cloth also being made in Damascus. (When you look at a Damascus blade under a microscope, you see tiny saw-tooth carbides, which allow the blade to cut - even when it feels dull to the touch!)

This handy folder with nickel-silver bolsters and brass liner is 5 inch closed Hunter Lockback with a 4 inch upswept blade!

This is an heirloom treasure that will be proudly handed down through coming generations.

Choose a scrimshaw etching as shown below, or add another hand scrimshawed picture (animal, mermaid, or your own boat) for a small extra charge. (Just email or snail mail us a picture.) Of course, it comes with free scrimshaw personalisation - up to 7 letters.

Included also is your choice of a genuine leather vertical belt sheath or soft zippered collector's case.

Fossil Ivory Color Charts

Below are the available colors of our fossil ivories. Our high quality fossilized ivories have been reclaimed from the ground after sharing the earth for up to 30 millennia! Even after all this time, Fossil Ivory remains warm and sensuous organic ivory; it is not petrified. It has developed its beautiful colors by taking up minerals from the earth and these colors are impossible to match in any contemporary ivories by modern processes.
