"What you see before you, gentlemen, is the result of a lifetime of chocolate!" Katherine Hepburn
This magnificent Kershaw Nakamura folder exquisitely blends traditional Japanese jewelry techniques with the most up-to-date metallurgy. The result is an attractive liner-locking gentleman's knife with a little more heft than the usual.First, the single 2.875 inch blade: Made with a core of VG-10 "Super Steel" clad with 420J2. The VG-10 stainless is made extra hard by the addition of Cobalt, Molybdenum and Vanadium. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds it superbly! Its Rockwell hardness number is 57-59. Now for the beautiful bolster! It is made by using the traditional Japanese technique of Mokume Gane, in which alternate layers of steel and different colored coppers are forged, pounded, filed and polished to produce a composite metal of beautiful Bird's eye design. For these bolsters, 10 layers of steel were alternated with 5 layers of copper-colored copper and 5 layers of brass-colored copper. This superb knife weighs in at 3.2 oz, and measures 3.75 inches closed. It opens with a thumb stud and has a removable pocket clip (See insert). Kershaw lives up to its reputation for quality and performance with this folder - a stunning knife! Top picture shown with Fossil Walrus - Rust Crystalline. Insert picture shown with Tiger Stripe Fossil Walrus with etching of eagle. Or choose from any of our Fossil Ivory colors shown below. Each knife comes with a matching Fossil Ivory or Sterling Silver trade bead on a leather thong. We will personalize this beauty with your name or initials, as well as etch one of our pictures - at no extra charge.
As an additional option, we will scrimshaw an etching of a ship of your choice, or your own boat (sail or power) on one side - Just email or snailmail us a picture.
Please note: (1) Scrimshaw theme and personalizations not available on Dark Brown Mammoth Ivory. (2) These knives are honed to razor sharpness at the factory. Please handle with care.

The available colors of our high quality Fossilized Ivories are shown below. (Please allow for some color variation in these natural materials.) Our wonderful Ivories have been reclaimed from the ground after sharing the earth for up to 30 millennia! Even after all this time, Fossil Ivory remains warm and sensuous organic ivory; it is not petrified. It has developed its beautiful colors by taking up minerals from the earth and these colors are impossible to match in any contemporary ivories by modern processes. In time, the Fossil Ivories you wear or use will take on very personal hues from your contact. They will become a part of you.
These are our scrimshaw Design Etchings. In addition to these designs, as an added option, you may send us a picture of your choice for a commission price quote.
