14KT Solid Yellow Gold
"And the wind condensed itself, and the result was the horse." Marguerite Henry
The heart of the ancient Thracians ia now the Republic of Bulgaria. Greek writers spoke of the Thracians wealth and, of course, the splendid horses that they bred and used. In fact, much of the Thracian jewelry unearthed by archeologists has an equine theme. Their king, Rhesus 2, came to Troy intending to fight. It was said "His horses are the finest and strongest that I have ever seen, they are whiter than snow and fleeter than any wind that blows." Thracian women proudly wore their horse-related jewelry to proclaim to the world the superiority of their horses and horsemanship.
We designed our very elegant Thracian Horsewoman's Amulet after an amulet found from approximately 400BC. All sterling silver. The central portion suggests a horseshoe, with hobnails arranged around the thick bezel. The filigree is typically Thracian. We offer this amulet with either two garnets or two amethysts - your choice. One is circular and the other is triangular.
