(Both are hollow ground for sharpness and have the Myerchin whale engraved on the blade.) this knife is very easy to open when it's needed in a hurry - a large opening in the blade replaces the nail nick - easy to grab and open! The blade, as well as the marlinspike has an independent locking mechanism. All 440 stainless steel construction with a substantial stainless bail for a tether, as well as a shackle slot in the blade, (for when your fingers are tired or cold and just can't do the job by themselves!) means that your Myerchin can always be trusted to be there and ready when you need it with only a minimum of care. Both the blade and marlinspike are 3 inches long. This sturdy knife is 4.75 inches long when closed.
